Keep Kids Moving This Summer with Activate with Joe Wicks
Staying active over the long summer break can be a challenge, especially when routines go out the window. That’s why fitness coach Joe Wicks has teamed up with award-winning animation studio Studio AKA to launch a new campaign aimed at helping kids stay physically active during the school holidays. It’s called Activate with Joe Wicks, and it’s a simple, fun way to keep children moving – and we’re fully behind it.
What is Activate with Joe Wicks?
Activate is a series of short animated workout videos designed for children. Joe Wicks leads each session, supported by colourful and engaging animations created by Studio AKA. The idea is to encourage kids to take part in quick bursts of movement that are easy to follow and enjoyable to do – no equipment or special set-up needed.
This fun campaign is backed by the Department of Health and Social Care, Department for Education and Department for Culture, Media and Sport as part of a new partnership to reach families and schools.
Each episode blends fun, storytelling, and physical activity to help kids stay engaged and active throughout the summer, whether at home or on the go.
The importance of children keeping active
We know how important physical activity is to improve physical and mental well-being. With more screen time than ever, it can be a challenge to make sure children are getting the levels of activity needed for optimised growth and development.
53% of UK children are not meeting daily activity guidelines
Nearly 1 in 5 children leave primary school with obesity
Activate aims to make fitness feel fun and accessible by sparking a genuine enjoyment of movement in children. The videos feature bright, energetic characters and are set to well-known, upbeat tracks – thanks to an exclusive partnership with Universal Music UK. It’s designed to capture kids’ attention and get them moving without it feeling like a chore.
With many parents looking for ways to keep their children active during the long break, Activate offers a positive solution – turning screen time into active time, and giving kids a boost in both physical and mental wellbeing over the summer and beyond.
How to Get Involved
